Start with the experimental question
A project may investigate receptor binding, cellular signaling, chemical stability or behavior in an organism. Each objective requires different methods. A binding-affinity result does not automatically establish sufficient tissue exposure, clinical effect or tolerability in people.
When reading a study, record the material identity, model, intervention, comparator and endpoint. Check whether the conclusion matches what was actually measured. An intermediate marker may help test a hypothesis but should not be renamed a proven clinical benefit.
Study type and experimental model are different dimensions
“In vitro”, “animal” and “human” describe experimental contexts. “Review”, “randomized trial” and “case report” describe designs or publication types. A review may discuss all these models. The library therefore keeps these dimensions separate instead of classifying every review as human evidence.
Cell experiments allow some variables to be controlled and mechanisms to be studied. Animal models add systemic interactions but do not remove species differences. Human studies also vary in population, duration, comparators and ability to answer a specific question.
A mechanism is an explanation that needs testing
Peptides may be investigated as ligands, modulators, carriers or components of diagnostic systems. Molecular engineering includes sequence changes, cyclization and conjugation. The purpose of a modification should be documented; the strategy's name does not guarantee improvement in every property.
The cited reviews discuss these approaches in therapeutic development. To examine a particular claim, follow the primary reference and check the compound, formulation, controls and result. Do not transfer findings from a modified molecule to another material with a similar commercial name.
A critical-reading checklist
- Identify the design, model and sample size when reported.
- Separate prespecified endpoints from exploratory analyses.
- Examine analytical conditions, controls and stated limitations.
- Look for replication and findings that challenge the initial hypothesis.
- Distinguish evidence not located from evidence of no effect.
From a publication to the catalog
An editorial link to a compound means the topic is relevant to the identity under investigation. It does not mean the researchers used Bolang material or a batch offered here. Establishing that connection would require a specific record of material and provenance. The catalog provides variants for quotation; the library supports questions and source interpretation without prescribing human use.
